Ready to take your kayaking to the next level? This intermediate whitewater lesson is designed for paddlers who are confident on Class I–II water and want to push into more technical terrain.
We’ll focus on refining core techniques, building river-reading skills, and developing confidence in dynamic environments.
Throughout this session, you’ll improve your edge control, refine peel-outs and ferries, and learn how to make precise moves in stronger currents. We’ll introduce more advanced strokes, surf waves (when available), and dive deeper into safety strategies and river communication. This isn’t just about paddling harder—it’s about paddling smarter.
Whether you’re preparing to tackle Class III rapids or just want to feel more in control on your current runs, this course will give you the tools and coaching to progress with confidence.

Precision eddy turns and peel-outs
Dynamic ferrying techniques
Catching and surfing small waves
Intro to boofing (depending on section of river)
River reading and scouting basics
Safety awareness and group communication
Downriver play if you are interested
We will discuss before your lesson what your goals are to specifically work on the skills needed to help you reach those goals
Prerequisites:
- Comfortable with wet exits
- Able to roll consistently
- Basic strokes
- Maneuvering in Class I–II water
